This story took place during my final week at Reuters. The other intern and I became very close and decided we wanted to work on a project together. We found this festival that was happening in Ghent, that despite an increase of terror attacks on the continent, still draws thousands of people each year. We traveled there and this is what came of it.

During a story about the Kurds after the fall of ISIS in the region, we came across a journalist who was exiled from Turkey. We interviewed her and found her story extremely compelling- especially because she was reporting on the Kurdish people in Turkey. We told her story.

This story was a part of my convergence reporting semester. My team and I discovered that despite the recent rainfall- mid-Missouri was still in a severe drought. It was a story that was based on "what-ifs." Missouri did not look like it was going to save itself from the drought at any point during the period we were reporting on the story.

My team and I just stumbled upon this story. Someone we know was contacted through Snapchat and was asked to participate in something that was not a normal request. Upon further research, we realized this happens a lot. Sex traffickers are using social media outlets to contact potential victims-- our story tells more.

This story was a part of my convergence reporting semester. My team and I used data to track the possible downfalls of trout fishing and breeding. We mostly focused on water quality, as you will find in this article. Using data in Missouri, I was able to expand it out to a national view.
